How To Tell If You Need Roofing Repairs

You might have a hard time knowing the extent of the work that will need to be done, but you should be able to spot that you do indeed have a roofing problem. To help you decide whether it is time to call in a roofing contractor, you will want to take a few moments to look for the following clues.

You Suddenly See The Light

Literally, you might see light coming through the roof of your home. Unless you planned for that by having a skylight installed in your roof, this is not a good sign. If you have an attic or a crawl space, you will need to access that. Climb up there and close the door or entrance point behind you. Once you are settled in a safe spot, turn off the light and glance towards the roof. If you spot any light coming through the roof, it needs to be repaired immediately. Even the smallest hole in the roof can let in a lot of rain, which can cause a substantial amount of water.

The Shingles Are Bending Up

Do not make the mistake of assuming that this is something all shingles do as they age and that it can be ignored. Even newer shingles can do that if they are not installed properly or they have gone through a lot of continual abuse from extreme weather. If you find that the shingles on your roof are starting to bend up, then they might just be one bad storm away from blowing right off of the roof.

Some Shingles Are Discolored

If you glance up at your roof and notice that there are some shingles or areas of the roof that are becoming discolored, you might have an algae problem. This is serious because the algae is going to eat through the shingles, causing them to break apart and fall to the ground. Therefore, the moment you notice this problem, you want to start thinking about hiring a roofer to replace the shingles. If you act quick enough, you might be able to save the materials that are under the shingles.

Should you notice any of the previously mentioned problems, or any others that might pop up, you are going to want to call a roofer, such as Freedom Roofing. If nothing else, call a professional to examine the quality of your roof. He or she will be able to address your concerns and point out any problems that are usually seen most by those experienced in roofing.
